Hovvdy’s fifth full-length, self-titled album features nineteen (19!!) songs and is finally available for our ears. The record explores the way in which time works against us, how our pasts define us, and how we grapple with the loss of time we thought we had. It’s a grief-stricken album that perseveres through the use of different sounds. They explore genres here, spanning from glitchy-pop to indie-folk to country and back again – this album has pushed this Texan duo into new realms.
It’s earnest, it’s leading with the heart, and it’s a full-fledged exploration into thinking about how we move through our lives with the past carried on our backs.
Cried, laughed, and ached – cannot recommend this one more.
