Actually a large Afro-Cuban ensemble made up of at-risk youth from Harlem NYC who participated in a youth outreach program mentored by several jazz greats in the 1960s & early ’70s. From what I can gather this was recorded in 1967 and 1st released a few years later. After years as a rarity it has been re-released. Lots of organic passion here, but don’t take my word for it; listen for yourself on Bandcamp.
