Drain injects a serious dose of relatability—not to mention catchiness—into hardcore’s penchant for toughness and brutality. FTS (KYS) is an ode to sobriety where chainsaw guitars and a brawling rhythm section battle against rousing roars to reinvent yourself and ‘kill all the parts that you don’t love’. There are a couple of surprises on this record. The first of these is Intermission, which kicks off the second half with a guest feature from rapper Shakewell and a piano/trap beat combo which segues impressively seamlessly into a thick and bruising hardcore groove. They also include a solid cover of The Descendants track Good Good Things. If you like heavy music (particularly hardcore), you’ll like this album.
