Naytronix – Other Possibilities [OAR]

In July 2020, Nate Brenner — one half of Tune-Yards and known for scoring films like Sorry to Bother You — had a serious running accident, and returned home with a broken collar bone. Other Possibilities, his fourth album under the name Naytronix, was born during the recovery process from the injury. The songs have a funky, psych pop pulse and are layered labyrinthine alongside Brenner’s characteristic basslines. Alongside co-producer Merrill Garbus (his Tune-Yards partner), Brenner penned songs like the floating spacey opener, “Indigo,” and the gently poppy “Somebody.” Recorded both at home and in the BotCave Oakland studio through broken bones, isolation and forced rest, Other Possibilities presents Naytronix’s most sophisticated work to-date.
