Breath After Coma – Woke Up in Babel

Release date: April 5, 2019
Label: Ikaros Records

The Athens 4 piece band, Breath After Coma carry influences, which vary from the garage revival of the 00’s to modern rock and roll, with characteristic riffs and mind boggling energy.  Woke up in Babel is engraved musically and lyrically with their own distinctive sound and character. Opening track Toledo! starts on a very electronic sounding guitar riff accompanied by a very basic drum pattern. Soon after this, it explodes into some rhythmic stoner riffage with washes of psychedelia. Fans of Queens of the Stone Age will feel right at home. Woke up in Babel makes it clear that the band is influenced by bands from the “90’s” (see Deftones and Radiohead). Although this album doesn’t break new ground, fans of guitar driven rock-n-roll will be pleased.
