Torche – Admission

Release date: July 12, 2019
Label: Relapse Records

I think for many people Torche is one of those bands they’re  aware of without knowing much of their material. Admission may be the album that changes that for a lot of people. The band has long been reluctant to call themselves metal but they certainly play enough slow and sludgy riffs to make even the most jaded metal head nod along. Admission kicks hard right out of the gate with From Here. On Slide, you hear the droning guitars and harmonized clean vocals that are present throughout the record but the slow and heavy parts are there too. On Times Missing, the band unearths the hazy memories about the nights everyone else remembers that you don’t. This crushing, low-tuned ear-worm will be stuck in your head for days. The title track, Admission, straight up rules and should get plenty of airplay. Infierno is heavy as all get out and sounds as if Eric Hernandez is playing open bass chords throughout.
