Evil. There’s no other way to describe the sound on Uncle Acid & The Deadbeat’s new release, Wasteland. It’s like The Beatles, Black Sabbath, and Electric Wizard formed a super-group and spent a summer hanging out with Alex and the gang from A Clockwork Orange.
I See Through You is a fuzzy and fitting start to an album chock-full of retro rock n’ roll, metal, and 1960s vocals. Shockwave City is definitely worth a play and demonstrates why this album is a sneaky choice for the best metal album of 2018. Blood Runner picks up the pace and would fit in any classic rock playlist. Stranger Tonight isn’t FCC-friendly but it may be the best album on the record. Finally, if you’re into a more psychedelic sound, check out Bedouin.
I’ve had this album on repeat for the past few weeks, I suggest you do the same.
