“Family Hangover” is the first LP released by Walrus. The band seems to have an eclectic mix of influences, which combine to form the album’s many intricate tracks. I would describe the music as psychedelic rock with chill, surfy vibes, as well as some occasional punk rock instrumentals. The lead singer’s voice struck me as somewhat whiny, but grew on me upon second listen. When hearing the songs, it’s evident that the band did a good deal of experimentation in the studio, making for some very unique sounds. Overall, “Family Hangover” is an interesting album, and made me intrigued to check out more tunes from the band’s previous EPs.
