Ryan Pollie is the sole creative genius behind LAPD. He has released one full length and a handful of singles before signing to Anti Records. This latest release, the first released on Anti, dips heavily into elements of psychedelic indie-pop with some surf pop vibes. Occasionally, like on track 3 and 4, he even crafts a folk ballad sing-a-long. The album took two and a half years to complete and encompasses bedroom pop (in the literal sense) since it was entirely recorded in Pollie’s home, for a more raw effect. The lyrics are open and honest as they delve into Pollie’s struggle with anxiety, depression, and his fear of flying. Overall this album is very well crafted and each track rolls smoothly into the next.”Los Angeles Police Department” is quite close to perfection and causes the listener to feel as though they are drifting pleasantly through a dream.
