The lush psych-pop of Copenhagen’s Halasan Bazar has put me under a spell, making them one of my new favorite bands. On their third, ambitious album, Burns, there is a sense of naturalism from these gurus of psychedelic music. Recorded in the French Mountains (come on guys, can you be less cool), Halasan Bazar laid down these tunes mostly live, emphasizing their blissed out sonics, buoyant melodies and kaleidoscopic composition. It’s a beautiful and vivid album with some surf-y guitar vibes and plenty of driving piano jams from a band of freaks and dreamers, made for the misfits and the weirdos out there.
