Landlady is the project of Man Man guitarist Adam Schatz. Their third album is a set of quirky and charming psych-pop songs that employ a variety of instruments – guitars, keyboards and a string section. The lyrics have an observational quality to them (which the title hints at), sometimes about fairly mundane topics – in “Driving In California”, one of the album highlights, Schatz sings about his favorite states to drive in. The main theme of the album seems to be sensing the world around you – something that we forget to do sometimes in our busy lives.
