Drowners is a Welsh/American indie-rock band that began in New York City around 2011, and On Desire is the band’s second studio album. This latest release doesn’t stray far from the sound that the band had on their last album with tightly wound guitars creating post-punk tracks that are bittersweet in their minor-key. The lyrics on this are also very driven by paranoia, anxiety, and doubt. Although they sound a bit like earlier Cure and they follow in a similar tradition of bands that sound like Joy Division, it’s still a solid release.
