“Sprained Ankle” is the debut album from Julien Baker, a singer-songwriter out of Tennessee.  This collection of emotional songs showcases Baker’s gentle, but highly capable, voice. An echoing guitar creates atmospheric tones that nicely accompany Baker’s melancholy lyrical themes of loneliness and mortality.  Baker references physical injuries to convey her emotional pain.  The album is an intimate and promising piece of work from the newcomer.
