Dead Stars – Slumber

Slumber is the debut full-length from Brooklyn band Dead Stars. They are a trio who play a mix of genres that evoke 90’s nostalgia – grunge, power pop, slacker rock, with a sound reminiscent of bands such as The Lemonheads, Sugar, and Sebadoh. It seems like there are a lot of bands doing this style of music and Dead Stars are not at the level of bands like Cloud Nothings or Speedy Ortiz. Still, there are plenty of good songs worth checking out, including “Disappearing”, “Walking Away” and “Wasted”. One interesting thing about this album is that it’s sequenced like it was meant for vinyl, with each side beginning with a high energy song and closing with a song that is completely acoustic.
