Walter Martin – We’re All Young Together (Family Jukebox)

Hooray for a ** rocking ** children’s album!

Walter Martin (frontman of The Walkmen) pops out a kid and realizes that most children’s music drives parents bonkers. He gets his friends and bandmates together and makes We’re All Young Together.

This album is simple, splendid, delightful. Heart lifting, feet catching. Innocent but mischievous, romantic but funny. You’ll be singing along unless you hold yourself back. Put your red shoes on and go swing on a rope!

Playful lyrics / Playful singing:

“…where the moon and stars are kept in a jelly jar”

“I’d like to roll up in a ball of you. I’d like to breach the castle wall of you & and sing a concert in a hall of you.”

“Her mama sings too & the old man taps his shoe. Music’s like shampoo. I need it every morning.”

Features lots of fantastic musicians, such as Karen O., Nick Zinner (Yeah Yeah Yeahs), Matt Berninger (The National), Alec Ounsworth (Clap Your Hands Say Yeah) & Members of the Walkmen and Kat Edmonson.

All songs are wonderful and will get you grinning.

Try: 1 (We’re All Young Together), 5 (Sing 2 Me), 2 (We Like the Zoo…), 6 (The Beatles…When Ringo Shook His Mop), 9 (Hey Sister), 10 (It’s A Dream).

RIYL: Paul Simon, Kimya Dawson, Michael Hurley
