An addition to WRUV that’s long overdue. “Whatever You Say” is the debut full-length from Burlington’s own Quiet Lion. The band is co-fronted by the founder of Jenke Arts, Tommy Alexander. Alexander is well matched with Alanna Grace Flynn, and their lush and gentle folk is a group effort, epitomizing what their artists collective can produce. Traditional but not bland, the songs showcase the duo’s songwriting talents. Alexander and Flynn both deliver great raw vocals, while some subtle piano, fiddle and guitar flourishes add some complexity to the tracks. Most songs are led by one vocalist, but while harmonies do pop up across the album, spots where the two exchange verses are where they’re most poignant.
