It’s been a few years but Tricky is back with a full length album titled False Idols. There is a dark, moody streak running throughout the album with Tricky’s vocals moving from a haunting whisper to an aggressive growl as he sings about drugs, failed relationships and other heavy hitting topics. Vocally he has help from Nneka, Peter Silberman, and Francesca Belmonte who balance his rough vocals. The music draws from Hip Hop, Dark Trip Hop, R&B, Dub and Downtempo with some tracks having a rougher edge while others are soulful and smooth. Tricky has been at for a long time and his talent is still as strong as it was when he debuted with Maxinquaye back in 1995.
